Night Lords = Blood Angels?!?! Yeah, It Blew My Mind Too!

Just the other day I was playing some 40k at the Local Hobby shop and I decided I was sick and tired of using a codex that didn't represent my army(Night Lords) correctly so here's what I've seen other players do and what I did: used the Blood Angels codex to represent Night Lords. And I LOVED it! Here is the list that I used

HQ:
Librarian w/ Terminator Armour(Psychic Powers Sanguine Sword and Smite)

ELITES:
Sanguinary Priest w/ Lightning Claws and Jump Pack and Brother Corbulo

Terminator Assault Squad

TROOPS:
11 Death Company

10 Tactical Marines w/ 2 Plasma guns and Sargeant Power Fist

10 Tactical Marines w/ 2 Plasma guns and Sargeant Power Fist

FAST ATTACK:
10 Vanguard Veterans w/ Jump Packs, Lightning Claw, and Melta Bombs

10 Vanguard Veterans w/ Jump Packs, Lightning Claw, and Melta Bombs

I think it worked rather well, as I beat one of my good friends who is rather good at 40k.

This is my first attempt at summarizing a game I played like 5 days ago, so cut me a little slack. My opponent was playing Space Marines and his list was rather shooty with (as best as I can remember): Lysander, a Sternguard Veteran Squad in Drop pod, 4 or 5 Tactical Squads in Rhinos, 2 Dreadnaughts w/ double Autocannons, and 2 devestator squads w/ 4 missle launchers each. The game was kill points and he had first turn. One of the key moments in the game was when I used Corbulo's special rule to re-roll my siezing of the initiative which earned me the first turn! The first 3 turns of the game went along the lines of my veterans tearing stuff up(including wiping out the Sternguard in 1 turn of combat) and him having a hard time killing anything because of my Sanguinary Priests. However, at turn 4 the tables began to turn. My units started to die from the amount of shots being poured into them and it soon became apparent this would be a close game. In the end, random game length saved me, as the game ended with me having TWO Tactical marines left on the board, but more kill points then my opponent, ending in a bloody victory for the Night Lords.

The only changes I would make to this list is the replacing of the tactical marines with Assault Marines. Anyway, that's all for today, as usual comments are appreciated. Enjoy!

40k 6th Edition: I Cant Tell Whether I'm Excited or Not

With the imminent release of 6th edition Warhammer 40,000 I have been asked this question many times recently: "Are you excited?", and my answer: I'm not sure.
(From a reliable source) this may be the 6th ed cover
The reason I say I'm not sure is because I want something new, exciting, and not ridiculous (but knowing GW I somehow doubt the reality of asking for that) and I'm not sure I'm going to get it. From what I've heard, this may be edition 5.5 more than anything. I liked the rumors we all heard that said they were switching the shooting phase around.

Also, I really, REALLY, hope the second army in the starter kit is Chaos Space Marines, as I reaaaally want a cheap starter box with cool Chaos models. Anyway, that's all I have to say for today, as usual comments appreciated.

"Prometheus, are you seeing this?"

Has anyone else seen the new sci-fi movie Prometheus? Yes, i know this really doesn't have a whole lot to do with warhammer but the aliens look kinda enough like Tyranids so we're all good. Anyway, if any of you like Science fiction at ALL,  then  I pretty much guarantee  you will like this movie. It has a very good plot, and AMAZING visuals (some of the best I've seen). The only downside to the movie is:

"Things are going to invade Human bodies...very VIOLENTLY
Things are going to erupt from Human bodies...very VIOLENTLY
Things are going to die...very VIOLENTLY"

Read more of my firends review at:http://deathfearsme.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=warp&action=display&thread=572#ixzz1y42XBYFn

All in all, i would rate this movie a 9 out of 10. In fact, i liked it so much I'm about to go see it again. go figure, huh?

Did someone say "The Lord of the Rings"?

Ever since I purchased a book called The Languages of Tolikien's Middle-earth and subsequent re-reading and re-watching of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy I have really been into The Lord of the Rings Battle Strategy Game (I even hope to post a battle report soon)! As of right now I own a small Uruk-hai force:

Lurtz
20 Uruk-hai w/ shield
20 Uruk-hai w/ pike
3 Uruk-hai w/ crossbow
3 Berserkers
4 Warg Riders
8 Orcs w/ spears
4 Orcs w/ bows

I have not yet bought the Fallen Realms source book so I'm not yet sure how many points that is but I hope to really expand this army over the summer!

Undead Skaven?! Thats right!

So here I was, first day of summer, nuthin to do. I decided I wanted more Skeleton Warriors for my Vampire Counts army, but I had no money! I looked through my boxes of models I never use and had an idea! I took ALL the skaven Clanrats from the Island of Blood kit and chopped off ALL their right arms and heads and replaced them with Skeleton arms and skulls! Ta-daa! 20 free skeletons!
Here's a picture:

0110110101101001011101(Thats Necron for "I'm starting Necrons")

I have decided to start a new Warhammer 40,000 army: The Necrons (well technically, I'm just re-starting them because I used to play them as my first army but I sold them all). I made this descision early Saturday. It all started when I checked my favorite rumors blog and I discovered some terrible news: Chaos Legions won't be coming out for a while. Totally devastated, I rounded up all my Night Lords and packed them into a box and I'm not gong to look at them until Legions is released. Now here I was with no 40k army and having a strange urge to play 40k. Then I remembered: my good friend is selling an army of Necrons for cheap! Bingo!

The color scheme I've decided to go with is that of the Charnovokh Dynasty, as you can see in my earlier drawings. I started a sketchbook with all the Necron units and how I will paint them. God I love being able to draw.

But still I don't know what list to run my army with. Here is a list of everything I have (ideas and comments for lists are appreciated( fyi I don't actually have them yet))

HQ
3 Necron Overlords/ Lords
3 Crypteks

ELITES
6 Flayed Ones

TROOPS
60 Warriors

FAST ATTACK
12 Canoptek Swarms
6 Destroyers

HEAVY SUPPORT
2 Monoliths
Canoptek Spyder

The Return of the Vampire Counts!

Today I played two games with my Vampire Counts, testing out a new list I've been trying lately. I lost both times, so I don't know how good it is. Anyway, here's the list:
1500 Vampire Counts List
Heinrich Kemmler
Mannfred the Acolyte
48 Skeletons w/ command, and spears
25 Zombies w/ banner and command
1 Spirit Host
1 Spirit Host
1 Spirit Host
9 Black Knights w/ Command, lances, and barding
Varghulf

Apologies for all!

I'm so sorry I have not been posting the last month or so! It was because my email was hacked into and my google and blogger accounts are linked so I couldn't post. But I'm back now! So here are some Necrons I drew over the break:
Lychguard
